First off, it is GREAT to be back. I can’t believe how crazy the past 2 weeks have been. With the Fourth of July, my move to Nashville, and starting my job I’ve been entirely too busy. From the few days I’ve spent as a working adult in Corporate America I can tell you that there are truly not enough hours in the day. On top of that, I’ve been painting walls, unpacking boxes and hanging curtains. I definitely am not complaining though because life in Nashville thus far has been awesome. I am so in love with this fun city and the people here. I can’t think of a better fit for me.
Since I have been so stressed with all of the change going on in my life lately, I thought a post on face masks would bee perfect. What better way to unwind and treat yourself than a mini spa treatment and a glass of wine or two? Answer: nothing. Face masks are great to treat a current skin issue you’re facing or as weekly maintenance to keep it glowing. I often use a moisturizing mask on Sunday nights to repair my skin from a weekend usually filled with a little overindulging and lack of sleep. If my skin is looking dull or I’m having some problem spots I’ll use a mask with ingredients such as tea tree and witch hazel as a quick fix. Whether you’re looking to calm, smooth, brighten, or tighten, there is a face mask out there for every type of skin issue you have. Here are a few ones that were new to me that I decided to try out recently.
Que Bella is one of my favorite brands when it comes to face masks. They are made of almost completely natural products, are super effective, and are a great price. I think I have used almost every mask in their line. This mask was not my absolute favorite of them all. When I took it out of the package I noticed that it was not very wet with product. In fact, I ended up not wearing it for the entire period of time because I felt as though it was not doing anything due to the lack of product on the sheet. However, I will say that this was the very first time I was disappointed with one of their masks so I’m hoping it was just a fluke thing. I decided to try this one because my one of my favorite Que Bella masks (Tea Tree & Witch Hazel) was sold out at the Target store I went to. I don’t think I will be trying this mask again soon, but I am still in love with this brand.
I often see these masks in grocery stores and CVS Pharmacies everywhere I go. Because of this, I was not expecting a lot from this mask. I did enjoy it, but it won’t be a new favorite of mine. Once it dries, it is very easy to peel off. I think it would have been more effective if I had applied 2 full pouches so that it was on really thick and then would be harder to peel off and maybe more effective. Overall, not thrilled but it was fine.
Garnier decided to hop on the face mask bandwagon recently, and has done a pretty good job. I used this mask after a night that I had forgotten to take my makeup off (oops) and it saved me. Usually if I forget to take off my makeup my skin gets bumpy, dull, and dry for a day or two. I popped this guy on the day after and barely had any bad texture on my cheeks the next day. This mask comes in a few varieties such as glow boosting and anti-fatigue. I plan to try the glow boosting for sure because I am always trying to get my skin to be more hydrated and glowy.
I am not a fan of this mask at all. I usually like Yes To’s products and love that they use only natural ingredients, but this was bad. First of all, THE SMELL. Maybe they were trying to cover up the smell of tomatoes (what does a tomato even smell like?) but it is so perfumey and weird smelling. Even after taking it off and rinsing my face I still could not get the scent off for a few hours. The scent distracted me from enjoying any benefits the mask provided, but I really didn’t notice a difference in my skin afterwards.
I saw this mask on a large stand of face masks for a 2/$5 promotion at Walmart and thought it looked fun. All that I could think about when I saw it was the funny pictures like this one going around on social media of this goofy face mask trend.
This is honestly how it looks when you do the mask. It looks funny, but it is really just a goofy looking mask that didn’t seem to do much. The bubbles forming on your face kind of tickle and make you want to itch it off. However, I don’t regret using it. This mask was a fun trend to try out.
I don’t really care much for eye masks since I do not really get puffy eyes or if I do it doesn’t bother me. I got these to see if there was something that I was missing out on. After using this product, I still don’t understand it. I guess I just don’t care about my under-eye area as much, but this wasn’t a life changing product for me. If you feel like you have eye puffiness issues, feel free to try this out and let me know how it worked for you!
I saved the best for last. I LOVE this mask and can’t say enough good things about it. I have repurchased this mask a few times since trying it out because I really feel a difference in my skin. First of all, I love the smell. I know I complained about the Yes To Tomatoes scent being too strong, but I don’t feel like this one is. Maybe I just like the smell of grapefruit or maybe since it is a more natural scent it does not bother me as much. Either way, it smells good and works really well. It kind of tingles/ burns while using it but in a good way. You can feel the mask working to brighten your skin. I felt like my skin was tighter and brighter even after one use. I will say that it caused my skin to be a little red for about an hour or so after, and I do not have especially sensitive skin. My advice: do this mask before bed and not before a night out.
I hope that you all are having a great week! If not, try one of these masks out to take a little “me time” and treat yoself.
